The Winery Barn, Berry NSW - Accommodation

We're in luck. The Seven Mile Vineyard's Winery Barn is unoccupied this weekend so we make a hasty booking so I can do a weekend review while we're exploring the South Coast of New South Wales. It's just a few kilometres from Berry on Coolangatta Rd.

The old vineyard's working winery barn has been cleverly converted into a two-level holiday home with three bedrooms and all the comforts needed for a short or long stay.

Rather than hide its previous life as the winery - The Barn showcases it in its design and architecture.

 Inside it's a stunning high-roof open space.

...with some original wine barrels creating a divide between the entrance and living spaces.

The floors are polished concrete with warming rugs.

The lounge, and its wood-burning fire just ooze relaxation.

Look at that view from the windows onto the duck pond!

And a few vines have been left to ramble.

There is a lovely cottage garden surrounding the veranda providing much needed shade from the blistering heat during our stay.

An old horse trough has been converted into a goldfish habitat. A container of fish flakes are left out so guests can feed them.

The full size kitchen is filled with light. There's a great oven and stove and stainless steel modern appliances.

 plenty of kitchen utensils...

... and crockery.

There's even a dining table for six.

There are three large comfortable bedrooms - each with an en suite. One upstairs...

and two downstairs..

We had very comfortable sleeps. And that country quiet certainly helps.

And if you feel like a luxurious bath there's a lovely deep soaking tub in the main bathroom.

Two geese waddle around the duck pond scratching for bugs and insects. To ensure they aren't tempted into the barn and disturb the guests....

.... the owners have positioned plastic snakes near the two entrances. They look a little too life-like for me!

There's a terrific outdoor entertaining space with a BBQ and table - to enjoy your market produce and some herbs from the veggie garden.

The Winery Barn is a south coast getaway must-try. Blissful.
A weekend won't be long enough.

Greenacre Farm Cottage - Blue Mountains

80's Rock God Johnny Diesel is playing at the revamped Hydro Majestic in Medlow Baths so we're staying the weekend at the Blue Mountains' hottest new accommodation The Cottage at Greenacre Farm.

The cottage is a lovely jewel box of seclusion and relaxation - a perfect weekend getaway for a couple.

It has rustic rural charm with pops of colourful urban chic.

This wall installation was created by the owners from salvaged metal wine barrel hoops found on the property.

The gourmand kitchen has a bar fridge, stove, oven, coffee maker and - sharp knives!

T

Cottage garden flowers decorate the rooms.

The lounge has a wood-burning fireplace for those cold mountain nights and a sofa that converts to a double bed.

The bathroom retains original brick wall features with a glamorous tiled bath and shower.

Bathroom serenity.

The bedroom is a perfect escape - comfortable mattress, beautiful linens and soft lighting.

The Cottage at Greenacre Farm is that rare find - a cosy, country retreat without sacrificing any of the modern comforts of city life.

The gardens the cottage looks out onto are worth a visit on their own. And maybe a push on the swing?

It was just for a short overnight stay but we felt we'd been away for a week. Greenacre is - as Zsa-Zsa Gabor would say ' the place to be'.
